high gloss enamel spray paint on colored paper with customized frame
92” x 75” x 2”
San Francisco, 2017
Using old spray paint from past piece Higher on found paper, the artwork shows glimpses of the original color of the paper, employs subtractive painting techniques in sanding off some of the spray paint, and creates a continuity between the artist’s previous works. The work allows the viewer to participate in the art in that they may choose the composition and alignment of the different frames. Regardless of the composition, there still exists continuity between the pieces with the sides still corresponding. The various shapes of the different pieces within each larger triangle aline such that, no matter what side of each triangle another is adjacent to, the shapes align.
