SF NO. 77, Church Configured is a site-specific installation and evolution of Church a ten part series of works that blind-embossed and painted over a collection of 200 year old prints of the plans for the Abbey Church of St. Albans, UK. The interaction of the prints and the wall is facilitated by the 2021 Sherwin Williams color forecast, painted into shapes that echo the laser cut wooden frames of Amplification. The inclusion of name-brand paint reflects a space making process steeped in consumerism. while the prints reflect an older, more sacred way of building. Church Configured explores how our perceptions of the passing of time are intimately connected to our interactions with art and architecture.
